Great Aurora

What a day we had on Wednesday, watching Humpbacks (shetlandblogspot.co.uk) all morning then the Aurora at night

So fortunate living in Shetland with so much to see and photograph. It was totally calm throughout the day and although we did have some cloud at night it was near perfect for the Aurora

The equinox  is always a good time to see the Aurora and this display didn't disappoint. It started about 9pm  with a green arc caught on camera

It continued to develop and it had a nice purple band which added to the scene. It moved up to an Orange alert so we went to a new site at Maywick having already surveyed the area

It was pitch black, no moon to light the landscape so i did a small amount of light painting.

Its an excellent place but i have some more news ones to go to as well so hope we get a goo Aurora Season

A house in the village, did the occupants know about the Aurora?

Plenty more information and photos on Facebook at Shetland Aurora Hunter just send a request to join
