Superb Shetland Aurora

Tuesday night tuned out clearer than expected and the Aurora started to show early as it did a couple of nights before. Cloud was starting to move in from the south but Sandsayre was clear

Wind speed was increasing all the time, up to 573mp/s, a lot more than when the biggie was excepted at the weekend but never materialised.

There was already a couple of folk out, Anne and Graham Powell who had been over at Bigton but moved east once the cloud moved in.

The Aurora was bursting into action straight away, even though nothing was showing on the apps. This is often the case as they tend to use KP readings which are never accurate.

Rays reached high and could easily be seen with the naked eye, the Aurora rippled across the sky with green, purple and red showing well

One of the best Auroras for many a month made better with a clear sky, still with no wind just an ideal night to watch the lights

For those that don't know I have a book out which you may be interested in ` Shetland Aurora Hunter' price is £16 + postage. Message me at shetlandaurorabook@gmail.com
