Last night we had a major aurora alert, it jumped straight from a Yellow alert to Major in about 1/2 hour.
As i disappeared out of the door it was very cloudy in Sandwick, no stars showing at all, so i headed 5 miles over to Bigton
It wasn't much clearer but at least the Aurora was showing through the gaps
It was a powerful one with purple showing above the green
One good thing was the powerful external light on the barn was out so didn't cast any orange light over the field
All these was photographed at ISO6400 F2.4 15 seconds as the moon had not yet risen. Later in the early hours the cloud cleared and some folk managed to get some great shots about 1-2am
Come and join us on Facebook at Shetland Aurora Hunter, lots more photos
